Kagemaru (影丸) was a character that appeared in Baseball Blues of the Samurai Champloo anime. He is voiced by Dave Wittenberg in the English dub and Toshio Furukawa in Japanese Dub.

History[]

Kagemaru sees Fuu Mugen and Jin running away in order to not pay for their food, and ask them to play baseball against American settlers. The American settlers plan to steal Japanese land, and the group agrees. Kagemaru trains them overnight on how to play baseball.

While playing baseball against the settlers, Fuu strikes out and the village elder break his back, as well as the baseball players hitting the dog. Kagemaru initially starts off well, but is killed when the American bat explodes, killing Kagemaru. However, Kagemaru is avenged when Mugen wins the baseball round, preventing the Americans from getting the Japanese land.

Personality[]

Kagemaru seems to be an honorable individual who likes playing by the rules. He is patient, as he wasn't angry when Fuu, Jin, and Mugen messed up or didn't understand what baseball was.

Appearance[]

Kagemaru is a old man in his 50s to 60s who wears glasses and wears gelled up hair. He has a baseball glove, sideburns and glasses.

  • It is unknown how the trio reacted to Kagemaru's death, and did they bury him.
